Thank you for visiting our about us web page. Handcrafted Pendants was founded by myself, Arlene Horowitz, and my talented husband David Horowitz, who is also a great jewelry designer. We started the company in 1989 as a sort of garage based hobby, as both my husband and I were employed at the time as goldsmiths for a large local jewelry fabrication company. After about three years of operating the business on the side, word of mouth spread, and our client list started to grow extremely large. At the point where we could no longer grow the company with regular full time employment, we finally decided to pursue our dream of setting up our own design and fabrication studio.
I won't say that the first couple of years were easy operating our newly established company, they were very difficult in fact. We incurred problems in operational efficiency, as well as financial lacking for some of the ultra high tech tools and technology we would need to stay on the competitive edge. Eventually, after about two years of smoothing out the rough spots in our company, my husband and I managed to pull the company to it's feet. Without the continual loyalty from our retained clients from the first operational years, we would not have survived this very rough period. Once the company was operating efficiently with both of us at the helm, we decided it was time to hire some more help.
As our client list was steadily growing, we initially hired a couple of part time goldsmiths, as I was dedicating most of my time to the design process, which is my strength by the way. Things moved quickly from that point on, and by 1998, we had three full time goldsmiths, and one full time designer. Now here we are in 2006 with eight full time employees, and still growing. We have really been blessed thus far, and firmly believe our dedication to quality has been one of the key factors to our success in the industry.
The most common question that we are asked, is do we carry stock. The answer is no, we do not carry or maintain an inventory of assembled jewelry. We are strictly a made to order design and jewelry fabrication studio. We do have jewelry from time to time exhibit in various galleries around the country, but as far as selling off the shelf so to speak, we do not do that. The reason behind that is we cater mostly to large or medium size companies that outsource their product fabrication projects.
